IH Darwin to open new city centre campus

Australia-based International House (IH) Darwin has announced the grand opening of its new location in Darwin's central business district (CBD) will be held on January 17.

Construction commenced in October last year on transforming a former health club into college that will offer English language programmes as well as business and project management courses under the ih Business College brand, launched last year.

The new IH Darwin centre has capacity for more than 300 students and will offer morning and evening classes, and will eventually provide six levels of General English and Cambridge, IELTS and Pearson exam preparation classes, as well as Certificate IV, Diploma and Advanced Diplomas in both Business and Project Management.

Tim Eckenfels, Owner of IH Sydney, IH Bondi and IH Darwin, said the new facility would "greatly assist" the Northern Territory in achieving its goal of attracting 10,000 international students by 2022.

Tim said he believed Darwin was an excellent location for their international students. "Darwin's tropical climate, exciting outdoor activities, friendly and welcoming inhabitants, and uniquely Australian cultural experience will all ensure the success of this location."

He continued, "Over the past 10 years, the city has become a sophisticated hub attracting tourists from Australia and around the globe. Many visitors are surprised to find high-quality restaurants, accommodation, pubs, museums and other amenities that are equal to those found in other parts of Australia."

The three IH schools are part of the International House World Organisation (IHWO) network of 160 partner languages schools, located in 60 countries.
