The new IH Toronto school buidling
New IH Toronto school to open next year

A new flagship International House (IH) school will open in Toronto, Canada, in January as a joint venture between IH Barcelona, IH Dublin and local partners.

IH Toronto will initially offer a range of English language programmes including summer junior courses, with homestay, residence and self-catering apartment accommodation options available.

The school will be situated 50 yards from the Eglinton metro station in the mid-town district of Toronto, which the provider said was "bustling with new shopping malls, leisure centres, bars and restaurants".

Explaining the development, Jonathan Dykes, CEO of IH Barcelona, said, "Canada is an increasingly popular destination with international students for a variety of reasons.

"It's affordable and safe, it has relatively relaxed visa requirements and there are great opportunities for further study and employment. As for Toronto, anyone who's been there knows it's just a fabulous, friendly city."

IH Toronto Centre Director, Norman Osokin, said the new school would benefit from the experience that the Barcelona and Dublin centres would bring, but would also need to make its own mark in a highly competitive market.

"IH is synonymous with top-quality academic standards and customer service. We're putting together a team in Toronto that will push these standards even higher and ensure that all our students' and agents' expectations are surpassed," he said.
